Review of A Single Man (2009) by Leena L — 02 Feb 2011
I definitely don't get the hype on this one. I will say Colin Firth is great, and I love what Tom Ford does with colours and how he shows what the main character is feeling emotionally throughout, but that's that. Julianne Moore is typically annoying to an unbearable point, the story's pretty dull and to be completely honest, it's honest for me as a heterosexual to really connect in an emotional way to a story of homosexual love. I just can't relate.
I also thought the ending was far too melodramatic and just silly.
Being directed by Tom Ford, a fashion designer, it makes sense that it has style and it does have that, plenty of it.
