Review of A Single Man (2009) by Kate H — 15 Feb 2011
Well, crap!! This is one of those films that you really have to see the whole thing to appreciate. I mean everything else I'm the film just has that much more meaning and poignancy once you know how the film ends. It is gorgeous and a knife through the heart. It is a very artsy film, the cinematography alone is gorgeous, and is obviously quite slow to build up but it has some fantastic moments. That is the whole point of the film after all.
Colin Firth, as per usual, is utterly fantastic. Not that that needed saying but there you have it. God, I really didn't expect this film to be this good. I also must add praise for Julianne Moore as a woman doing everything that she's been told to do and is still down right miserable. That should be just as much a lesson to us as George's story.
