Review of A Single Man (2009) by Janie M — 20 Feb 2011
Colin Firth gave a heart-wrenching performance, and almost all of it was simply in his eyes. Extrodinary. Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode, and Nicholas Hoult complemented Firth with a grace and ease that can only come from true and undiluted chemistry. Tom Ford stylishly and modernly directed this nostalgic and deep emotional struggle of a movie perfectly. It was written honestly and with a powerful realism that comes from language. Brilliant all around.
My only problem with the film was the fact that it mimicked Clint Mansell's score for the Fountain. Other than that. 100% Perfection. Bravo.
