Review of A Single Man (2009) by Brandon C — 09 May 2011
This was a gorgeous movie with amazing shots, great use of color, and some very fine acting. I don't think Julianne Moore has looked better and I definitely enjoyed the cameo by Lee Pace (but that's because I loved Pushing Daisies so much).
The only problem is that I wasn't as emotionally connected to Colin Firth's character as I was supposed to be. By the end, I wasn't pulling for him ... I was relegated to a simply observer to the drama that unfolded.
Which is fine, but with so many gut wrenching scenes, I feel like I should have been moved in some way. I did like this movie though, and Firth totally earned his Oscar nomination from this.
