Review of A Single Man (2009) by Ryan G — 18 Jun 2011
A work of such realistic beauty, that at times it is hard to watch. It's got a ton of messages that are cleverly woven into the plot, a lot of them are open to interpretation, and that does not mean I did not watch it, I'm just still trying to figure all of them out.
Colin Firth is already an incredibly underrated actor, he gives the best performance of the year. It's mysterious, it's emotional, it's intense, its humorous, dramatic, and just about everything you can put into a performance.
Moore is pretty good, as are the supporting roles. A single Man is not just a typical romance story. It's the way all stories should be told, with confidence. The score is beautiful.
