One of the most underrated films I have seen in the last ten years. Colin Firth is on his way to replace Daniel Day-Lewis as the British Isles' best acting talent. While I was a huge fan of Jeff Bridges's turn as the drunken has-been country singer Bad Blake winning the Best Actor award, I would not have been upset at all had Firth's emotionally torn, outwardly dignified Professor George Falconer take the Oscar instead.

Firth was perfect as the conflicted and psychologically damaged homosexual professor. His banter with Julianne Moore's Charley was also great as well. I must also give credit to Tom Ford, who should seriously consider directing films full time.

He got nearly every part of 1962 Los Angeles right in this film. The pacing was excellent and the ending was very good too. Not an artsy film but an excellent film an artsy person would love.
