Review of A Single Man (2009) by Geoffrey T — 03 Apr 2012
An admirable performance by Firth is wasted amongst an overload of melodrama. I dock one full star for the absolutely terrible ending. Also, I also really hated the way the colors shifted to show life blooming inside the protagonist.
Also, I felt like there was no need to ever show Goode's character in flashbacks. Also, I hated the choice to begin the movie with an emotional scene of Firth breaking down into tears; at this point the audience hasn't had enough character development to accept a scene of such emotion.
