Legendary GUCCI fashion designer Tom Ford unlocks his inner artist in his directorial debut 'A Single Man', and subsequently does a spectacular job of adapting Christopher Ishwerwood's 1964 novel into an atmospheric and intriguingly written piece of dramatic cinema, complete with fabulously stylish costume design, beautiful use of music and sound editing, dazzling cinematography demonstrating a keenly-shot eye for colour, and a stunning Academy Award-nominated central performance by Colin Firth as a gay British literature teacher grieving the loss of his partner in 1960s California.

After only a single viewing, I now consider 'A Single Man' to be one of my favourite films of all time.
