Review of A Single Man (2009) by Joey S — 16 Feb 2013
Life, Death, Fear, Hope, Beauty, Love.
For Tom Ford's directorial debut, this was a truly incredible film. A touchingly bittersweet story of a newly single man dealing with the death of his partner of 16yrs.
There were moments of suspense and mystery, esp. as to the intentions of Kenny (Nicholas Hoult) towards George (Colin Firth).
Colin Firth brought incredible depth and compassion to his character, which made the final scene, all the more poignant.
Cinematographically, the exquisite yet subtle changes in colour added to the the beauty of the piece. In all, it was another work of art by Tom Ford.
