Review of A Single Man (2009) by Eric G — 31 Dec 2014
I can't believe Tom Ford is a fashion designer. An absolutely fabulous directorial debut. Beautiful cinematography with the use of the gray overtones changing to the warm, yellow tones. A wonderful script coupled with wonderful performances from all involved.
I've never thought that Colin Firth was a very good actor, and this is by far the best work he's ever done. He gives a heart wrenching performance, combined with the muted cinematography and the gorgeous, haunting score, this film creates an almost perfect portrait.
The grief of George is perfectly conveyed, but at the same time, room is afforded for the good in life.
