The best thing about A Simple Plan is that it's pleasing in two different ways.. It is a dark Hitchcockian crime caper with some southern gothic undertones ... And it has that Sam Raimi magic and comedy to it for fans of his.
It's almost as if he knew what he was doing all along . Pleasing his fans plus making a movie to be taken serious at the same time. Genius.
