Review of A Simple Favor (2018) by Bob K — 17 Oct 2018
I had no idea how funny this movie would turn out to be. Hitchcock injected humor into his films with clever-speaking characters, and this is more like sight-gags and some silliness. At the end, there's a climatic moment that's too silly, jarringly so.
Blake Lively disappears in this film, and with her goes some of the films vitality. She's just so much damn fun when on the screen, and while Anna Kendrick's presence is substantial, it can't quite fill the void.
