Review of A Shot in the Dark (1964) by Anthony W — 13 Jul 2007
After stealing the show from David Niven in the previous PINK PANTHER film, Peter Sellers reprises his role as the bumbling Inspector Jacques Clouseau. Maria Gambrelli (Elke Sommer), an employee at the Ballon mansion, is accused of murdering a man there, and it is up to Clouseau to find out the truth.
This film also introduced the other important character in the franchise, Clouseau's boss Insp Dreyfus (Herbert Lom), who loses patience with Clouseau's incompetence. This film is really funny, and cements Sellers as the comic genius he really was.
