Review of A Shot in the Dark (1964) by Mark S — 22 Jul 2007
A fairly tame comedy by today's standards, but never fails to earn a few laughs from anybody who watches it. It would seem that only an actor of Peter Sellers's caliber could pull off the part of Inspector Clouseau, delivering absurd dialogue or physical comedy while still maintaining a deadpan serious expression.
Clouseau may be clumsy, lecherous, bumbling, inept, and given to flights of fantasy; yet Sellers can make us cheer for his unlikely anti-hero.
