Review of A Shot in the Dark (1964) by L J — 29 Sep 2007
Stunning first sequel to The Pink Panther and quite possibly my personal favourite of the series.
Clouseau was almost a mere supporting character in the first film, but this is where the focus is (wisely) shifted onto him - and it's WAY funnier than the first. It's also the film that sets all the elements in place for the rest in the series (Cato, Chief Inspector Dreyfus, Clouseau's mastery of disguise) - although it was another 11 years before it BECAME a series. Even the theme music is cooler than the 'regular' Panther theme.
Co-scripted by William Peter Blatty (author of The Exorcist, if you don't know)!!
George Sanders is in this, as well!
