Review of A Shot in the Dark (1964) by David M — 08 Jan 2008
''Dou-dou's.... dead!!'' Hilarious. This caper is in this writer's humble opinion, the best of the string of 'pink panther' films of the 60's and 70's, as it struck a fine balance between the slightly more reserved humour of its predecessor, ' the pink panther' , and the pure slapstick which was to overtake the later 70's movies, that according to many who worked on the sets, where a product of both Sellers' and director Blake Edwards' larger than life egos.
Though, don't be put off, any of the set are pure joy to watch. I defy you not to at least snigger at the scene where Maria ( Elke Sommer) and Clouseau ( Sellers) attempt to drive through Paris in a tiny mini completely naked after losing trace of thier clothes in a nudist colony.
.. Classic Farce!!
