Review of A Short Film About Love (1988) by Rituparna C — 26 Aug 2007
I haven't seen another film which deals with the innocence and the intensity of love, the way this one does. Brilliantly subtle and honest! Giuseppe Tornatore's film MALENA too deals with a young boy in love with a much older woman.
Although MALENA is a great film in its own right, it is constrained by its own single perspective narrative unlike A SHORT FILM ABOUT LOVE. With his trademark extreme subtlety, Kieslowski shows how fragile love is by nature, and how easily it can be shattered forever.
