Review of A Short Film About Killing (1988) by Mubin S — 12 Jun 2008
I actually expected lots of violence and bloodshed but I was pleasantly surprised. The beginning was pretty draggy but as the film unfolded, it got much better. The thing I like most about this film is how it so accurately shows the different sides of a person as well as how it makes the audience aware of his own personal bias.
Apart from the lawyer, who I felt was pretty much one dimensional, the cab driver and the drifter were powerfully portrayed. I mean the taxi driver is just one big pain in the ass and you can't help but dislike him tremendously but I didn't think he deserved to die like that.
And as for the drifter, he comes across as some young punk but when you see the whole picture, his history, you get second thoughts about him being hanged. Brilliant movie!
