Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Tomas S — 18 Jan 2012
This movie is not for everyone. As a matter of fact, it seems like the Coen brothers made it for themselves. Probably sat down and said "how about if we make the best movie we can make without any regards to commercial success". And that's pretty much what came out, a really great movie that most of us "goys" or "gentiles" will have a hard time relating to but will truly appreciate.
Dana Stevens from Slate hinted that this movie should be appreciated scene by scene. Once you see it that way, it's incredibly fascinating since they are so well crafted. Favorite scenes are the second rabbi talking about the dentist. Very good stuff.
