Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Gordon S — 18 Dec 2010
A savagely funny dark comedy patterned loosely after the book of Job. It's another offbeat quality project by the Coen Brothers, so their fans will want to check this out, as well as people intrigued by how the Jewish faith treats the supernatural world (examples: a Jewish ghost story segment, what it's like to be stoned at a Bar Mitzvah).
A necessary warning and not a spoiler: just don't expect traditional closure . . . my opinion is you need to watch the movie very closely to appreciate the ending.
