Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Marcus L — 23 Dec 2010
I suppose a lot of the humor in this movie was directed towards a Jewish audience, but I still found the movie funny in several occassions. It does leave the audience to do some of the guessing, and leaves several questions un-answered, but if you pay attention, you realize that's the whole point of the movie.
We don't ever REALLY know what's going on; and we have to decide what role (large or small) faith plays in figuring it all out. I watched this entire movie and did not recognize Michael Stuhlbarg (the lead role) as Arnold Rothstein from "Boardwalk Empire.
" Credit the makeup and props department for transforming him into someone completely unrecognizable, at least to me.
