Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Alexander B — 16 Jul 2011
Coen Brothers seriously miss the mark with this depressing slog about being Jewish and the trials of Job or some biblical thing. Richard Kind is more unbearable than he was in Spin City and all the crap TV he's done.
I don't know who the lead guy is but every time I try to picture him I get the dad from American Pie. Perhaps you have to be Jewish to enjoy this, but please ensure that you are a self-loathing Jew.
The best bit is the closing shot, which is fabulous. Just fast forward to that bit.
