Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Augustine P — 11 Feb 2013
Typically ambiguous with no pay off, but damn if it isn't shot superbly and filled with great great scenes. If you liked Barton Fink and No Country For Old Men, then you'd probably dig A Serious Man.
I still say the Coens have been on a roll since No Country, but this is not even close to as funny as Burn After Reading (their best comedy since Big Lebowski). Who knows. Maybe on repeated viewings I'll feel differently.
Anyway, A Serious Man is entertaining and gives the viewer a lot to ponder and discuss afterwards. Too bad I was all alone when I saw it. I'm so lonely. Boo boo bee boo boo.
