Review of A Serious Man (2009) by Paul K — 09 Jul 2013

I enjoyed it, although there isn't the usual uplifting narrative arc: rather, things go from bad to worse to even worse for our hero. It's a portrayal of a culture in a time, and it's a bit desperate.

Eleanor really didn't enjoy it, and I understand why. There's a genre of Sixties-set movies which show a sterile suburban culture, I think life in that time and place was probably more fun than the movies make of it.
