What the hell are the Coens doing? They're almost inpeccable in terms of craft nowadays, but this dreary, pretentious movie is just bleak and cruel. The Coens are just bullying the characters, the complete lack of sympathy rubs of after a while, and you end up not caring in the least.
Sure it's funny from time to time but in the end the humour is just cruel.
