Review of A Serbian Film (2010) by Jesse B — 20 Jan 2011
I can't say that I hated this film and yet I don't feel comfortable saying that I liked it. A raw and unforgettable look at the power of art and the power of sexuality. Sexuality is an animal drive, one that is not attached to emotion but yet the film clearly states that it is impossible for humans to separate sex and emotion, even in a completely drugged out state of mind.
You can only push a man so far till you hit a nerve of emotion, one that is hidden after years of being in the porn industry (talking about the main character). A man who spent his life fornicating for money.
It's hard to explain if you have not seen the film and if you do, prepare to be disgusted and almost enlightened. The acting was superb and the pacing was rather good. Actually would have made a great murder mystery, if it were not soooo revolting at times.
