Review of A Serbian Film (2010) by Michael C — 05 Jun 2011
Beautifully shot, intentionally controversial and confrontational picture that is as alienating as it is accomplished. Spasojevic's film is supposedy a meditation on the treatment of Serbia by oppressive government regimes, but in reality, such metaphors are hard to distinguish amongst the truly disgusting incidents that take place within the running time.
Neither for the faint-of-heart, or the easily offended, it is a film that deliberately provokes and succeeds both technically and dramatically. A primal assault on the senses.
