Review of A Serbian Film (2010) by Akash Y — 04 Aug 2012
I'm surprised that so many reviewers have slated this film. Sure, it's very graphic and not for the faint hearted, but if you can stomach the scenes of brutality, sexual violence, and child abuse then it's an interesting, albeit twisted, story.
Apparently the director claims that it's symbolic of the Serbian governments oppression of it's people ... mmmm, not sure if I can see that in the film.
I don't want to give away any of the plot, but I will say that the film is well directed and engaging with an appropriately dark soundtrack. If you liked Lars Von Triers Antichrist then you'll probably like this, and actually I found it more interesting than Antichrist. But, as all the reviews will say, it's not for the faint hearted.
