Review of A Serbian Film (2010) by The R — 27 Apr 2013
Quits speechless after watching. Needless to say, this is definatly not for the squeemish. The imagery held in this film is truly shocking and has really never been done before. After you've seen it, you have no words for how you feel.
So, this review is going to be rather short! But I will say that it will haunt you for days (after all the carnage and disturbing material you've seen, the lasting shot is the one that echoes through your mind for a while after) There are certain scenes of great dialogue and some of stunning cinematography.
The soundtrack is also brilliant; a real thumping, loud soundtrack that accompanies the ilm very well. You can see that the director/writer/producer was injecting a political subtext into the film. Although, the majority of the time is does just feel like an excuse to be controversial, and this film is probably the most controversial I have seen so far.
The meaning of the film only really strikes you after a couple of days from watching it. It does take you a while to get over the ridiculously dark imagery and material. If you feel uncomortable at the beginning of the film, you will be squirming like mad by the end of it.
Worth watching for hardcore horror fans, but I doubt anyone else will enjoy this. Even horror fans won't enjoy it, but we can now say we've witnessed it!
