Review of A Separation (2011) by Sameen M — 15 Feb 2013
Being of Iranian descent myself this film is an incredibly touching experience. It's a lot more moving if you don't constantly have to glance down at the subs haha. The very real trails and tribulations of escaping a country and leaving everything behind are so prominent in this film.
Similar happenings (not so dramatic) happen almost everyday in Iran and it's surrounding countries. This film very much helped me understand the hardships that my own two parents faced when escaping the Islamic revolution that occurred in Iran in 1979.
Sure for me there is a lot more here than a fantastic cinematic journey directed by one of Iran's best directors but this is still an unbelievable film that it is really a crime not to watch. YEAH! A SEPARATION YEAH!
