Review of A Separation (2011) by Kok Hoong F — 16 Mar 2012
A separation. And then, a death. It is amazing so much can be said about the people of a country in an innocuous family drama. And the sheer irony. We never get to know exactly why the female protagonist wants to leave the country.
A decision that spirals the series of unthinkably complicated events but that is only a McGuffin, much like we need not know which parent the daughter wants to go with in the ending.
