Review of A Separation (2011) by Hiatt N — 10 Mar 2013
In spite of being a bit over two hours long, the film didn't feel like it. Going into it, all I really knew about was the divorce. The title refers not only to that but also the separation between Nader and the caretaker he hired for his father, as each accuse one another of crimes.
The acting was engrossing throughout. Not to diminish the actors' performances, but, I wonder how much of this is due to it being a foreign film. As I do not recognize any of the actors, I don't have any part of my mind saying, "Oh, that's George Clooney", or whomever.
