"A Seperation" is a brilliantly and hauntingly constructed relationship drama centered around a restless couple in Iran.

Simin and Nader are a happy couple with a young daughter, until Simin decides that she wants the family to move out of Iran to find a better life. Nader is reluctant to move, due to his sick father, who suffers Alzheimer's disease. As the family begins to splinter through the tensions, Nader hires a young woman to care for his father. But the young woman is not entirely honest with him, leading to complicated set of affairs that could tear everyone's lives apart.

It's a beautifully shot film, and wonderfully acted as well. The cast includes Leila Hatami, Peyman Moaadi, Shahab Hosseini and Sareh Bayat, and all completely disappear into their characters, resultinging in a brilliantly realistic film.

The film goes on many twists and turns, many of them completely unexpected, and the final scene (which I don't want to give away) is one of the most brutal ways to end a film that I could think of.

Absolutely perfect. One of the best films I've ever seen.
