Review of A Scanner Darkly (2006) by Sinead L — 12 Aug 2009
An interesting film filled with double-agendas that are somewhat difficult to understand at times. The animation style was somewhat distracting at times, although it was interesting. I'm still trying to understand why they chose to use rotoscoping rather than live-action.
This film really makes you think. It's an interesting look at drug use and how drugs affect us psychologically, but I didn't feel that the drug-abuse problem was the focus of the film. Instead, I was spending a lot of time wondering what was really going on, and what the film was trying to say. A lot of it felt like a lull, because there was no real climaxes in the story.
Though it was a good film, I think it's somewhat forgettable.
