Linklater is a mixed bag with his share of low-profile "independent" movies that seem to have a cult following. This definitely falls under that category, with an original take on drugs and surveillance, that's hard to believe is based off of a book written over 30 years ago.
As the movie is heavily dialogue driven and has rotoscoped visuals (like Waking Life), you might feel worn out by the end of the movie.
