Review of A Scanner Darkly (2006) by Dominic O — 31 Oct 2009
I didn't want to see this film at first because of the animation style. It looked poor because little was done post to actually make the characters speech consistent in successive frames. They lack human expressions.
Since it appears each frame is processed on it's own with little relation to the rest, as scenes move on small details keep annoyingly flickering. This is immensely distracting and unrealistic. There should be artists touching up each frame, and then again as a moving scene to keep such annoyances to a minimum.
So after all that and sitting down to watch this, I was hugely disappointed by a bland, pointless story.
