Review of A Scanner Darkly (2006) by Irina T — 17 Jan 2011
I was into vector art a few years ago and I was really fascinated when I saw this movie's DVD. I've never seen it before nor heard about it. When I watched it, I was still pretty young and I absolutely didn't understand it a single bit. When I rewatched it again a year ago or so, I understood it a bit more, but still it was kind of confusing because it was in a drugged world.
I haven't read the novel yet and I'm sure I won't understand every single part of it, but the movie was satisfying for me. At first I only looked at the graphics because they were absolutely stunning, but afterwards I looked beyond that - tried to understand the story behind it. I guess this is another dystopia where everyone took drugs.
The ending and twist were superb. I wish I could give more constructive comments but once I really understand the plot I guess I will be able to.
8/10.
