Review of A Scanner Darkly (2006) by Gillian D — 05 Jun 2011
I found little to like in A Scanner Darkly and have so little to.
Write due to its less than interesting nature. I struggled to find.
Anything of interest to grasp to. It was so frustrating.
The plot was meandering which is not a bad thing, I just found no arc.
To grasp onto. Initially the conspiracy elements seemed quite.
Interesting but these elements are abandoned. Even if plot was not the.
High point, mood should have been. It failed here too. Part of the.
Problem was the shift in characters to Wynona. It would have been.
Better if we saw Keanu unravel from his perspective.
Twist! Wynona was in on it! Irony! A rehabilitation centre is behind.
Drug manufacture. It seemed clumsy to me.
Of the animation style? It rarely seemed to add anything and some.
Scenes seemed to undermine the style. The highway scene seemed.
Particularly out of place with the style of the film. There should.
Have been far more surreal moments given the opportunity. In the end.
We got a transvestite suit which was disgustingly ugly, probably costs.
An insane amount to develop, and was essentially a plot hole given a.
Black bag would perform the same function.
I also found the humour didn't seem to register as well with this.
Style. There was a bit of a disconnect with the dialogue and the.
Visuals that meant the timing was off. That said the concept of how.
They arrived at the conclusion that Keanu should sell his house was a.
High point. That sequence was nearly hilariously elongated.
