Review of A Scanner Darkly (2006) by Hunter O — 14 Jul 2011
What an unusual movie. Visually this was something new for me but unfortunately it didn't appeal as much.
The story is intriguing, but I'm generally not that interested in the ramblings of addicts and the whole plot with undercover police remains too silent under all the drug-influenced conversations of the characters.
Robert Downey Jr. gives another brilliant performance (I got this movie because of him, to be honest) and all the other actors keep up pretty well.
All in all a unique movie, although looking at it from a suspense level this one is really flat, no climax, no nothing. Might get dull after the first 40 minutes.
