Review of A Scanner Darkly (2006) by Yeaton C — 10 Jul 2014
A very unique movie with strong characters, unusual plot twists and unique appearance. it should be considered the science fiction film of its decade.
Real sf, of the type that Phillip Dicks wrote, creates a sense of wonder. Images that expand the imagination, based on how characters respond to events in their world that do not correspond to what has already happened in reality. Linkater's willingness to transpose a sf book, of the sort that genuine sf fans read, into a movie is unusual, and he did a remarkable job.
