Review of A Safe Place (1971) by Mike H — 10 Apr 2011
There are some strong moments in A Safe Place, although the movie doesn't really take on a narrative form at any point, and therefore never arrives anywhere; this isn't off-putting, though, as the movie never gives you the sense that it is going to arrive anywhere. Like the dim-minded flower children it presents, any drama, relatability, or re-watchability that you derive from the movie will be found in moments, and not from an arc or anything as complex.
The main female character is belligerently idiotic, but some good performances are captured from most or all of the cast.
