You stupid son of a half-whitted father!

In 19th century Russia, Catherine the great begins an affair with a royal officer. The officer is a good man with ideals to make life better for his people, but he over steps his boundaries which leads to a fall out with the queen. The queen respects the officer, but does she respect him enough to save his life and position?

"You are just where you belong and you're getting just what you deserve.".

Otto Preminger, director of Laura, Anatomy of Murder, The Man with the Golden Arm, Exodus, Skidoo, Bunny Lake is Missing, Angel Face, and Whirlpool, delivers Royal Scandal. The storyline for this picture is fairly interesting and contains eccentric and unpredictable characters. I did like the script, settings, and costumes a lot in this film. The acting was also very good and the cast includes Charles Coburn, Vincent Price, Tallulah Bankhead, Anne Baxter, and Mischa Auer.

"I am the law.".

I DVR'd this movie because it starred the great Vincent Price and was directed by the underrated Otto Preminger. This movie was not my favorite film by either of them, but it was an interesting tale to watch unfold. Overall, this may not be worth adding to your DVD collection, but it is definitely worth a viewing.

"Keep on idolizing me and shut up.".
