Review of A Royal Affair (2012) by Mark H — 27 Nov 2012
Four out of five stars. A real surprise from this Danish/Swedish/Czech co-production and Denmark's Foreign Oscar entry. The film is beautiful, sumptuous and powerful with a good romance and intriguing central political drama.
At times it visually rivals "Barry Lyndon," which is high praise. Only off for a few technical things-white light through papered windows is always kind of TV production and the doctor lover is Armand Assante-like which is to say, not that appealing, in a greasy, Euro style, although not a bad actor.
