An understated and one-of-a-kind love triangle with great performances from Mikkelsen and Folsgaard that allows the ideas of Enlightenment to really breathe and take on a character of its own. Thankfully, 'A Royal Affair' is willing to charm it's audience rather than look down its nose at them.
