This is based on the true story of a love triangle (King Christian VII, his queen and his doctor) and the changes they brought to Denmark in the age of Enlightenment. The plot unfolds predictably with able performances and gorgeous period richness (esp.
the costumes). It's told in classic historical style with mild passion, intrigue and drama, but nothing about it is special. If you like this sort of thing, you'll find it solid historical drama.
