Review of A Room with a View (1986) by Valerie M — 22 Sep 2009
I think we can all agree that Daniel Day-Lewis kicked Julian Sands's ass. He was perfect as Cecil and Sands sucked it up as George. The scene where he's protesting his love to Lucy looks more like an audition tape than an actual scene in a movie.
And what was up with that scene where he's standing in a tree shouting? Terrible, terrible scene. The cast was perfect aside from Sands: Helena Bonham Carter, Maggie Smith, Denholm Elliot, Simon Callow, Judi Dench and so on were wonderful.
This is an excellent adaptation of the book, even with a terrible George.
