Review of A River Runs Through It (1992) by André D — 29 Mar 2009
A Robert Redford film - Set in the relatively untouched wilderness of Montana. Reverend Maclean is a preacher with two very different sons but one thing ties them together, their love of fly flishing on the Big Blackfoot river, a gentle absorbing pursuit they can always return to.
The brothers' lives take very different turns, Norman (Craig Sheffer) marrying the steady Jessie (Emily Lloyd) while Paul (Brad Pitt Pitt) falls prey to gambling and drink. Although heart-throb Pitt steals the film to some extent, veteran actor Tom Skerritt scores highly with his outstanding and heartfelt portrait of the watchful father.
An enchanting film.
