Review of A Quiet Place (2018) by Jess_Hill — 24 Apr 2018
A film with which to hunker down into your seat and wear your heart rate monitor, this was a thrilling and tense experience that uses sound, and the lack thereof, brilliantly. The performances are accomplished, with the near total lack of audible dialogue requiring both creative visualisation and necessitating nuanced performances.
The creature design is sufficiently chilling, and the cinematography is polished, allowing for some astonishing moments where no one is breathing both on and off screen. Compelling and tightly paced, this is a film to watch with friends in a dark and quiet cinema.
