Review of A Quiet Place (2018) by Ranlover — 15 Jun 2018
A Quiet Place is, simply put, one of the best of the new wave of “Modern Horror.” Most of the jump-scares work very effectively, but the suspense is even better. There’s a whole sequence involving Emily Blunt that is among the most white knuckling scenes I’ve ever seen in a horror film.
The acting is truely superb, with standouts being Blunt and Millicent Simmonds, who plays the daughter of Blunt and John Krasinski in the film. I have but one major flaw with this film, and it’s with some jump-scares.
As stated before, most of them work, but there are a couple that are false scares and disappointing when compared to the rest that in the movie. Beyond that, this is a must-see and without a doubt one of the best films of the year.
