Review of A Quiet Place (2018) by James G — 20 Apr 2018
My sciatica was feeling better, so I decided to treat myself and finally take my butt to see A QUIET PLACE at the Marcus Fairview Hgts. Cinema. Tickets are only $3.50.
A QUIET PLACE lives up to its huge loving critical reception! Immediately tense and so tightly wound. John Krasinksi somehow is able to create a family that you come to care for immediately and he does some remarkable things with sound AND the film is a tearjerker, to boot!!!!
The cast is fantastic and I always love Emily Blunt, but the real star of the movie is the young deaf actress Millicent Simmonds (who was so fantastic in Todd Haynes WONDERSTRUCK).
Only 7 people in the theatre and a large screen. I was in paradise. I felt like I was attending a private showing.
The film is fantastic!
I imagine it will be coming out on dvd soon, so if you haven't seen it at the cinema, rent it when it comes out on dvd!
The movie was so well made that I was afraid to speak for quite awhile when I left the theatre.
